Ben,

If you travel south on the main drag past Pattaya about five miles last the Lotus supermarket, it is on your right and has some big signs.

Turn in and you will find Gulf Charter down by the water by the chandelery.

cheers

Hello Ben,

May I suggest that you look at Sunsail at Koh Chang. There you will find great country to sail with plenty of places to hang out. I believe that Gulf Charters has several boats there also. Koh Chang is about three and a half hours from Pattaya.

regards,

Thanks MeMe,

I heard that koh chang was the place to be and I will try the charters down there. Have you had any experience with either charter company and what i should expect by way of a better deal?

Hi Ben,

Gulf Charters out of Koh Chang is fantastic. They have some great boats. We took a Sun Oddesy 43 for a week and it was fantastic. They also have Benetaeu 46 which is in great condition, and a really big Prout 39 cat.

Cheers

Thanks MeMe,

I see on the Gulf charter website that they have a heap of boats. It just seems hard to get there as they are on the otherside of Koh Chang?

I had a look at the Gulf Charter boats as a few are up at Ocean Marina in Pattaya for the Top of the Gulf regatta. Their condition is not to bad, however I did see some sail damage and it seems that the people using the boats are not instructed on proper sail care, like moving the topping lift on the main, tightening the reefing lines and a boom cover that I seen was to small and the exposed sail seemed damaged by exposure to the sun. I believe that they can be charted for racing, but you may have to look it right over as they are set up for cruising.

Cheers

What's the weather for sailing like in June on the East Coast? What size of boat would you recommend for leisure sailing between Pattaya and Koh Chang and maybe beyond to Cambodia, if possible?
